Privacy
Short version: the site doesn’t track you, the email list holds only what it needs to send you the newsletter, and nobody else gets your address.
Who we are
Token Times is a trade name of Clear Lake Recording Studios LLC, 10520 Burbank Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601. We decide how your data is used (under EU and UK law, we’re the “controller”). Reach us at dispatch@thetokentimes.io.
The website
- No cookies, no analytics, no ad trackers. The site sets no cookies and runs no third-party scripts.
- One setting stays in your browser. If you switch on CRT mode, your browser remembers it locally. It is never sent to us.
- Hosting logs. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, browser, page requested) for security and debugging.
- Fonts and thumbnails. Typefaces load from Google Fonts, and story thumbnails load from the publishers’ own servers, so your browser contacts those servers when you view a page.
The email newsletter
When you subscribe we store:
- your email address;
- your answer to “What should we lead with?”;
- the page you signed up from, and when you subscribed and confirmed;
- whether you open our emails and which links you click, so we can tell what readers find useful and keep the list healthy.
We use this only to send you Token Times, tailor what leads it, and report total numbers (subscribers, opens, clicks) to sponsors. We never sell your address or give it to sponsors or anyone else.
You join only by confirming through the link in our confirmation email, and that consent is our basis for emailing you. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Who processes your data
- Kit (kit.com) runs the mailing list and sends the emails.
- Vercel (vercel.com) hosts the website and the signup form’s server code.
- Google Workspace receives replies sent to dispatch@thetokentimes.io.
These companies are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We also remove inactive addresses every few months: if you haven’t clicked anything in a long time, we take you off the list.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any email.
- See or delete your data: email dispatch@thetokentimes.io with the subject “Privacy request”. We answer within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, such as correcting your data or complaining to your data protection authority.
Children
Token Times isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and say so in the newsletter.
